Throwback to the couple who started my Elopement journey…

It was Autumn of 2022 and Trevor and Sharyn wanted an intimate elopement in the colourful surroundings of wineries in Waipara. No guests, just the two of them and an adventure.

They shared their vows under a tall tree, explored between the vines and shared a celebratory lunch at @waiparasprings - a perfectly intimate day.

There’s nothing like rolling Canterbury Hills, autumn coloured winery fields and a couple in love spending time away from the rush of life and starting their new adventure with an elopement in New Zealand.

This is what eloping is about, sneaking away and marrying your best friend in magical landscapes and spending time just the two of you making memories!

Trevor + Sharyn eloped at @waiparasprings and then adventured between the rows of colourful vines to celebrate. No guests, just the two of them, their celebrant (@kinetabooker) and their two witnesses (myself + venue manager)! Just perfect.

Engaged couples - let’s chat about engagement sessions. It’s something that’s always offered by photographers but not always exactly explained why they’re so good.

My number one reason as to why I say yes you should have an engagement session is to get comfortable in front of the camera so it takes the stress element of that away in the lead up to your elopement or wedding making things more enjoyable. But there are many more reasons, including you meeting your photographer and not feeling like a stranger is taking your photos on the day, you get extra photos you can use for save the dates or send to family and friends to show your adventures.

My favourite kind of engagement sessions are adventure sessions where I take couples to 2-3 locations close to each other and we basically go sight seeing and take beautiful photos! It’s so fun!

The West Coast might be known for its stunning sunsets but even sunrise is magical with the blues and pinks early morning! Just imagine eloping at sunrise with the waves crashing and the sky glowing pink… so serene!

Because I can’t just post once about this gorgeous elopement, I have to post a few times!! There’s just so many stunning moments from S + M’s lupin elopement in Tekapo!

This was coming towards the end of the adventure when the light was starting to change and slowly hit the lupins next to Lake Tekapo. It was such a beautiful space for them to take in the day!
