When to Elope in New Zealand – Weather Planning Guide

I’ve teamed up with Helen from @beyondthebloomkiwi to host our first ever floral pony minis! And they’re open for booking!

A little note from me:

As a self employed creative I keep myself accountable, push myself to do more and do better, be present in every part of my business 24/7, try be the best friend I can for every other self employed/creative and sometimes even when it’s too much I still say yes to every little thing that comes my way.

2025 has been hard, not just for myself but many of us creatives are feeling the pinch and this is just a little note from me to you, if you’re a self employed/creative, you’ve got this! You’re not alone! Keep going but make sure you’re also taking care of you, because you can’t serve with a cup half or completely empty.

And if you know someone who is, check on them, pray for them, and just support them, you never know what someone is going through!

For the rest of this year I have set myself a challenge to not only post photos of my couples and family shoots, but post things that fill my cup, starting with florals in their natural state. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, God’s creation really is just so awe-inspiring!

I got to spend some time in Beyond the Bloom’s flower field the other day while planning something exciting for September school holidays, but I just couldn’t resist taking snaps of the flowers in all their different stages, from new buds to flowers ready for dead heading.

Here’s to posting more snippets of things that bring me joy! 🎉

A couple months back I ventured through Arthur’s pass to the west coast and then came back to North Canterbury (home) through Lewis Pass, stopping in at Cape Foulwind… it was magical!

So many people told me that Lewis Pass wasn’t as impressive at Arthur’s Pass but I reckon it has its own charm and in winter covered in snow it’ll be even better 😍

Here are some snaps of my journey from Punakaiki through to Cape Foulwind and then through to Lewis Pass!

Kaikoura not only offers epic wildlife experiences with whales, dolphins and seals (sometimes if you’re luck you might even see penguins!) but, you also can have gorgeous views including go alpine mountains covered in snow while chilling at the beach… how cool!

A moment for D and her father before he walked her down the aisle, giggles and excitement for the ceremony to come!

J + D eloped with their nearest and dearest in Hanmer Springs on a sunny afternoon in December 2024. It was a beautiful day all around sharing memories with their family and friends and telling their love story during their vows had us all giggling and smiling! A true romcom for sure!

J + D eloped with their nearest and dearest in Hanmer Springs on a sunny afternoon in December 2024. It was a beautiful day all around sharing memories with their family and friends and telling their love story during their vows had us all giggling and smiling! A true romcom for sure!

I love love love the freedom elopements give to have intimate moments like these with private vows shared with nothing but forests, waterfalls and native birdies (given the bride likes birds - because M on the other hand did not, but she handled the fantail like a trooper!)

It’s always so fun to see the difference between what phone footage vs a photographers eye looks like!

This was L + M’s Akaroa elopement day! Just pure adventure all day exploring the beauty the Banks Peninsula offers and love right at the center!
